i’ve got a crush on you.
I had no intention of blogging today. I’ve already spent the morning at the foreigner’s office in Germany (think DMV where no one speaks English) and I am heading to Stuttgart in a couple of hours for a VERY important reason (ok fine, I have to pick up beerfest reservation tickets because they won’t mail them). I’m also using this opportunity as a desperate attempt to go shopping on an American military base. The things you do to access things like Velveeta, Rotel, Frank’s Hot Sauce, and soft brown sugar abroad…
Then, I saw that I missed a link up yesterday that I felt the need to participate in. It’s all about blogger crushes and there’s nothing like spreading the blogger love. I read about twenty billion blogs per day because what’s life not lived on the Internet is just living. Wait… I don’t think that’s actually how it goes. Anyway, I love reading everyone’s blogs and do my best to comment and share. However, there are some bloggers out there I really look up to, so they are getting the love today. All of these ladies are funny, real, open, honest, follow through, and I want to meet them all IRL, have a martini, and be besties.
So alas, my blogging role models/wannabe best friends?:

What bloggers do you look up to?

And yeah, I can imagine how bad it was to spend the morning at an Amt!

YAyyy I love finding ohter people that read her blog! So fun!
I’m loving these posts so much!
But that aside…I need to know. What is brown sugar in Germany like if not soft? (weird question…I know)
<3 Kiersten
Kiersten, it’s horrible. It’s pretty much raw sugar- big and grainy.
At least that is how it is in Southern Spain. I miss the real stuff. Bad.

Ha ha, I am German and I wonder what the soft brown sugar might be
I only know it raw, like the same as the white one, just brownish… Love me some good cultural differences

xx

The actual difference according to the internet is apparently that it is refined white sugar blended with molasses – so it forms a softer, stickier sugar that is amazing and a key ingredient in so many cookies and other dishes. It’s SO tasty (yet doesn’t taste a bit like molasses).
Soft. Brown. Sugar.
Oh, how I miss that precious gold so much. Cookies just don’t taste the same without it.
Awww! How cute is this! The world definitely needs more love declarations like this. I’ll check out the ones I didn’t know so far. Thanks!

But I defo will post my favorite blogs too!

Rotel is just a God-send – green chiles, oh the things I can do with tomatos and green chiles!
I’m new to your blog, but I’ve read a lot of these you have posted here. There are a lot of good ones. I look forward to reading yours too e cause after all a live not spent on the Internet is not worth living, right?
