where my friends be? pt. 2

About 18 months ago during my last semester of college (or ‘Uni’ as I’ve grown used to calling it here), I posted my friend map courtesy of Where My Friends Be? This concept really is awesome, because beyond seeing where your Facebook friends are scattered, you can actually click on the location marker and see who is located there. So, if you are traveling somewhere, you can see if any old friends might be living there now.
Here is my friend map in March 2011:

And here it is today (albeit harder to really see with my big face covering Germany):

Visual evidence of my defriending spree, as despite meeting tons of new people in Germany, my friend count has decreased.

It definitely shows a little perspective about living abroad. It is beyond awesome and you can certainly build a support system with some time, but you sure do have to take the chance and leave a lot behind.

Update!

WhereMyFriends.Be must kind of suck because after using the My Friend Map App on Facebook, it is very clear that my friends are much more scattered than they initially appeared.

  1. This is awesome! I didn’t even know you could build friend maps like this!
I also love that you live abroad! I have a slight obsession with travel, unfortunately my wallet doesn’t seem to agree with me :P Can’t wait to read more!
