kinderhotel = kindertraum.
After spending an entire week at a certified Kinderhotel (Children’s Hotel) in Austria, I just had to say this is the most genius idea ever. Initially, I thought the Kinderhotel was one hotel, but it’s actually a theme in which a hotel adopts to be a part of the exclusive group of Kinderhotels. For me “working”, this place was a Godsend: so many playgrounds, pools, swings, trampolines, cars, games, and not to mention, employees, to keep the kids busy. The employees speak at the minimum English and German and entertain kids like no other. I for one, forgot most of those silly but highly engaging playground games we all used to know and love, but you bet they know them. I just followed them around and made sure no one face planted.
What makes this place special?
- Endless selection of activities: indoor/outdoor heated swimming pool, hot tub, themed water park, indoor play place, sports gym, video game room, theater & performance center, arts and crafts room, trampolines, swings, slides, playgrounds, toy cars, aquarium, mascots walking around
- Field Trips: there are daily planned excursions such as biking, canyoning, hiking, etc.
- All Inclusive: buffet style breakfast, lunch, snack time and dinner, fountain drinks, juice boxes, hot cocoa
- Night Activities: dancing to Kinderhotel themed music with the mascots, sports, movie nights, plays, magicians, etc. (all while mom and dad eat)
- Rooms: bunk beds for kids, low sink for children, bubble bath in bathrooms (it’s the little things after all), Disney Channel, glowing stars on the ceiling, children’s sized robes
So, what’s in it for the parents?
- Spa: full service + saunas
- Fitness Center: work out equipment + free aerobic classes daily
- Mountains
- Child Care
- Bar
- Adult Dinner Menu: they upscale the food for the parents and serve 3+ courses, salad bar available lunch and dinner
- potential friendships with relatable people

That sounds like a blast! Why don’t we have that here? And can I just say how much I love the adaptation of the German word “kinder” in America, therefore I got it right away? OKay, nerd moment. But seriously, I loved Germany the one time I went. It was the end to a backpacking trip around Europe when I was 19 and I loved every moment of it. Including saying “Guten Morgen,” which sounds a bit like my name,
Well, in case you can’t tell, I love stalking your blog!
Happy September!

That’s what happened to me, backpacked through Europe with a short stop in Germany and decided I just had to move here
That sounds like a lot of fun. I would totally enjoy all the children entertaining myself.
Haha.
And I think I need a Dirndl!
ummmm you most certainly need a Dirndl – pretty much the most fun thing to dress up in everrr
This is such a great idea! I can imagine it would make traveling with kids so much easier…I know my parents probably got sick of having to entertain me every time we went on a family vacation!
genius.
just look at the view! the mountain! i’m already sold.
This really is genius! I hope that the person who thought of it is freaking loaded, because they deserve it!
One of my students was going to a place like that (also in Austria… maybe the same one?), and when he was telling us about it, I totally thought he was making all that up! Genius!!
I know – I had heard so much about it before arriving but actually witnessing, too perfect for families.
GENIUS. I mean, those countries over there just know whats up! We need this here…. mostly so that little ones don’t push ALL THE BUTTONS IN THE ELEVATOR when I’m trying to make it to floor 25 of my hotel. You know… and so they all have lots of fun things to do.
But mostly to save me time in the elevator
pahahahahhahahahahaha sooo true
The photos of the landscape are stunning and it definitely sounds like a great place to spend a family holiday. Now all I need are kids to take there!
That sounds like a brilliant idea for people with kids.
