meet clocky: my new best frenemy.

So my dear friend Anne got me a Best Buy (one of my fave stores ever) gift card for my birthday back in April and today, I was on a mission to spend it. I originally wanted to put it towards an iPod Nano because my ancient iPod Video is kaput, but that really was not the financially responsible decision for me at the moment since I am about to head back to Germany (TWO DAYS!).

After some in store browsing and passing up more ridiculous iPad accessories, I found a new frenemy: Clocky.

I despise mornings. Getting up and I have never gone hand-in-hand. In fact, in middle school and high school my mom told frequently me that I actually ruined her day because I was such hell to get up in the morning. I’m a night owl, what can I say? Then, there came the time in my life where I actually had to get myself out of bed. College was a transition. Sure I had class in the morning, but often it was too easy to play the hooky card. Then came work. Work I had no choice, I had to be up. So since I started mornings working a couple years ago, I began the snooze routine. You know, where you set your alarm even earlier in order to slowly wake up by hitting snooze 3ish times. I’m THAT person.

Clocky will bring me a new lease on mornings. No more snooze button for me. The second this thing goes off, it’ll be on the run and I will have to get out of bed to turn it off.

Purchase a clocky.

After watching this video, I am having a little purchase regret because that sound is absolutely dreadful. I’ll let y’all know how it goes. My morning self has got to change sometime.

  1. Good idea in theory! In practice, I’m not so sure? Clocky better be one tough customer or he/she may not make it through the first week?

Good luck with that & take it easy on ‘Clocky’ when it squeals, runs and hides under the bed.

    Safe travels.

    Love you,

    Daddio

  2. haha omg. i need this. only i would feel really bad for felipe if he had to endure listening to this every morning…but my last couple weeks of school i was literally snoozing for like an hour before i got up. NO bueno!! i wish i could be a morning person!!

  3. I am also THAT person, I set three different alarms to go off three or so minutes apart from each other because it is impossible to wake up. And I’m pretty sure that Clocky would be broken into multiple pieces after the first day he tried to wake me up. I do enjoy the R2 D2 noises a tiny bit, though. Not enough, but yeah.

  4. TWO days?!? soooooo jealous!! I’m going to be living vicariously through you since I’m not there anymore. So make it good!! :D

  5. Haha, that is awesome. I didn’t know anything like that exists. I am THAT person too so maybe I also need one! Let me know what you think!
And enjoy your time in America and have a wonderful flight to good old Germany!

  6. oh. my. god. that’s hilarious! i love the idea, but i don’t think i could handle dealing with that noise every morning. haha. good luck and safe travels back to Deutschland.

  7. Ahahaha this is amazing! I’m totally one of those people who sets the alarm by calculating actual wake up time + allocated snooze time too! That’s so exciting that you’ll be back in Germany soon :)

    • THAT LITERALLY SOUNDS LIKE THE WORST THING EVER… What have I gotten myself into? I’ll be sure to let you know the first time that happens

  8. i.need.this.

I’ve also seen alarm clock dumbells that only stop after you’ve done a certain number of reps. I need that too! LOL

  9. 1. I cannot believe you are headed back to Germany already! Where has summer disappeared to?
    2. You and my husband are the same with the snoozing… it kills me! Once I’m up, I’m up so I end up waking up like thirty minutes before I need to because he has the alarm set early so he can snooze forever. He needs a clocky.

  10. I’m another “sets four alarms” person, so I can relate. My ex-gf had a Clocky. She set it to make the noise without engaging the motors (you can do that) so she didn’t have to chase it.

If it were me, I would spend time before bed setting Clocky traps to make sure it couldn’t get too far.

    • What’s the point of Clocky without the motors? I definitely like the trap idea – or just trapping the under the bed thing because that would certainly ruin a morning.
