it’s lemonade day!
I guess I am feeling charitable this week. I’m here to ask one more favor. If you see a lemonade stand today, please purchase a glass. Today (Sunday, May 1) is Lemonade Day nationwide! You may remember it from my group project last semester. Lemonade Day is a charitable effort dreamed up by successful Houston entrepreneur Michael Holthouse and his charity, Prepared4Life. Lemonade Day first began in 2007 and Mr. Holthouse has am ambitious goal, to reach 1,000,000 lemonade stands on Lemonade Day in 2013. Mr. Holthouse and his team are so enthusiastic and wonderful, we loved working with them supporting this great cause!
Lemonade Day is all about entrepreneurship and teaching children how to “spend a little. share a little. save a little.” Our country was founded upon small businesses. Lemonade kids take a loan from their “investors,” build a stand, advertise and sell. Afterwards, they pay back their investors, save some for themselves and give some to the charity of their choosing. Cool how so many business principles fall into the simple concept of a lemonade stand. Last year in Houston alone, the children gave $1 million back to local charities!!!
